The Burden Cloth Family

As seen in the non-profit, user-recommended Cool Tools review (since August 2009)

One of Organic Gardening magazine's "Top 50 Tools We Can't Live Without" (March 2001)

Home & Garden Size, roughly 4'x4' $37 recycled, $44 canvas
Tie pairs of handles together, then sling it across your body to harvest crops with your hands free. You'll amaze yourself at the load of prunings you can tote.
The most versatile size of Burden Cloth, the Home & Garden Size Burden Cloth is great for yard clean-up, fruit picking, picnicking, trips to the beach, laundry day, baby gear, holiday shopping, camping uses, and more.
Patio Size, roughly 3'x3' $27 recycled, $34 canvas
Carrying wood gets easier....For small-scale projects: tub plants, house plants, hanging baskets, and planter & window boxes. Repot on a Burden Cloth and contain the mess, or use it indoors for craft projects to do the same thing--put the finished project or pot away, grab the loops, and pour the leftovers into flower beds or compost heap or (sigh) trash.
A Patio Size Burden Cloth is also ideal for bringing in one evening's wood for the fire, without overloading yourself or debris-sweeping afterwards--and, no more splinters, fewer spiders.
Market Size, roughly 2'x2' $20 recycled
The Easter Bunny buys fresh carrots at the local Farmers; Market.Instead of a basket, take a Market Size Burden Cloth to the Farmers' Market. Slip the loops on your wrist, tuck your purchases in as you go, and when the cloth gets heavy on your wrist, it's telling you that you've spent enough--time to go home and cook some of it. (Besides, how many times have you bought more than stays fresh for a week?) Then use it for brown bag lunches: full of lunch, place mat, napkin, and trash bag all in one! Wash it out, and repeat ad infinitum.
Farm Size, roughly 5'x5' $47 recycled, $54 canvas
Bringing in your crops is easier and quicker.Use the Burden Cloth to tote your tools out to the back forty. Whether you have an acre, home orchard, a canning garden, or a goat & llama ranch, the Farm Size Burden Cloth is the size for you. Carry hay to the animals, tack to the horses, or tools where they're needed. Or carry in the inevitable newborn critter from the far pasture.
carry laundry to the laundromat The kids can take down a Burden Cloth toy box, play with their toys, and then toss 'em all in the middle and--hey, presto!--hang the loops back up to clear the floor.
manage the children's toys
This skateboarding schoolboy's books ride in a Burden Cloth...

Look, Fido's collected a neighborhood's worth of bones!
even do your marketing...

No-Quibble One-Year Guarantee     Lifetime $5 Trade-In Value

Our guarantee: It is because it lasts so much longer that we can guarantee every Burden Cloth for one year from purchase (free replacement). For the record, as of September 1, 2009, Timeless has replaced only three Burden Cloths in twenty years under our "no quibble" guarantee; none in the past decade. Since May 2007, we have honored four trade-ins, none less than 13 years old; in November 2008, we accepted a 15-year-old recycled Home & Garden Burden Cloth that was still usable as to the fabric, but the cotton webbing had rotted and eventually torn. (Hence our recommendation to wash any that get forgotten in the wet.) We will accept "virtual trades" by phone so that you need not ship a rag back to us; the point for us is that we want to know what failed and how it failed.

Tools Have a Right to Be Beautiful...

The commonest complaint Carol heard is: "It's too beautiful to get it dirty!" (A customer even mentioned that at her memorial.) Mom (or, as she was known to the next generation, GrandCarol) always said that tools have a right to be beautiful, and still deserve to be used. Every Burden Cloth has been pre-washed and shrunk during manufacture, so if it gets dirty, wash it. Wash 'em whenever they need it, by hose or machine. Note: if you leave a Burden Cloth sitting out with weeds or leaves on it for a while, wash it when you find it. That'll keep it lasting longer (mold and mildew eat some fibers). Also, a shot of white vinegar in the wash is hard on spores but easy on fabric.

Because the Burden Cloth uses recycled fabric, we guarantee every Burden Cloth for one year. After that, when it wears out, we will take your old one in trade for a $5.00 credit on a new one.
